Abstract (Eng): | Several recommender systems that use collaborative
filtering or matrix factorisation methods rely heavily on similar
users to make recommendations. These systems are therefore
vulnerable to injection attacks from a malicious user. This
research analyses multiple domains. Firstly a study is made
around the types of attacks and their impact on the various
recommendation algorithms. This impact is necessary to measure
the severeness of an attack and what the chances are that these
will be detected. Afterwards a comprehensive analysis is made
of detection techniques against various types of attack models.
Several supervised detection methods will be analysed separately
and combined afterwards to obtain a complete detection system
based on the characteristics of user profiles. While reactive and
proactive methods exist to deny a possible attacker, this research
focuses mainly on detecting the commmon structures of attacker
profiles. |
